Final Exam Blog

A student's writing skills can be improved through the use of web logs. Web logs give students the room for freedom of speech and the ability to expound upon their interests. When writing about a topic of interest for a student, a deeper level of writing is taking place. This level of writing with desire provides the student to thoroughly express their ideas in detail. The passion and fire that a student has for a particular topic is shown through their blog and can essentially be the main force that drives a student to write. The organization of their writing can indefinitely be improved because of the students desire to chronologically give order to a story or a situation, and blogging is an area where those skills are practiced. Not only is chronological order improved but also imagery. Imagery is essential when describing a situation to give the audience an image of what was taking place, just as chronological order is important. Through blogging the passion of writing is encouraged without the pressure of knowing you "have" to do it.

I enjoyed the informality of blogging. Through blogging I was able to write about my topics of interest. This process of writing helped me express my ideas and interest without feeling that is was very formal. With blogging it was easier for me to take my interests in put them into a more formal setting when it came time to write an essay. Being able to fully expound my ideas in a different format was encouraged through blogging and it was a place where I could be me without being criticized.

Shopping Fanatics

Black friday: a time where the crazies come out for their goods. I have never been shopping on the day after thanksgiving, but it does interest me. Many friends of mine will wake up at 3 in the morning and head off to an adventure that they will never forget. The thing that scares me most about the entire idea of black friday, is that everyone goes chaotic. Even the most timid parents, grandparents, and kids go wacky. They get angry if someone picks up a certain toy or item before they do, do they not realize it will probably be back on the shelves within the next week? The aggression that people have while shopping during this time makes it seem like what they see they have to have NOW. How much people thrive on materialism is an idea that is supported heavily when you here on the news about people getting trampled.
Trampled! You got to shop and someone gets trampled because of eagerness. This Black friday idea may be taken to the extreme. Who was charged and with what? Crazies, I tell you. Crazies.

Florida

In approximately 26 days I will be traveling in a car with a very closer friend and her grandparents. Where to? Ft. Meyers, Florida. For 12 days I will be soaking up the sun and laying around with nothing in the world to care about. My friend and I will be taking advantage of the local cruises and 3 wheeling as we pump up the retirement subdivision we will be living in. The best part of this trip is I only have to pay 100 dollars for all the necessities. That price range reeled me in and boy was I there to stay.
Sand volleyball is also another activites that we plan on taking full advantage of. Just down the street from where we will be staying is a beach with sand volleyball courts. What better way to meet people than on the sand courts? Life could not get any sweeter than living life as a beach bum for 12 days. Counting down the days till I leave, and currently it is 26.

Digital Technology

Digital technology has more than changed humankind. This form of technology is what most people rely upon. If my computer it acting funny, slow, or abnormal I can't help but get angry. Everything I have is in some form of technology. Each paper, picture, and conversation is in digital form. I would be completely lost if digital technology was to go to the pooper. Thinking about writing a 6 page paper by hand instantly gives me finger/hand cramps. It has changed the way we file records, communicate, and learn about our world.
We are able to find anything online. Information can be made up and altered. How do we decide what is right and what is wrong. The news can be updated within seconds. . .what if it is not correct information? The realiability of sources needs to be double checked when looking at what to base research or opinions on.
Along with many communication tools. . . digital technology has taken over. Skype, digsby, MSN, AOL, Yahoo, and many more other chatting programs have made it possible to converse with people from all over the country. From Honduras to Bryan, Ohio, we are able communicate with no barriers. I look forward to talking with my friends from Honduras and without the digital technology of the world it would not be possible.

Crafting

My mom has handed down one of her best traits, crafting. She has always been able to find anything and make it into something. My crafting began when I was a freshman in high school. We had recently moved into a house that my dad had built and took everything with us from the old house to the new. As we began unloading the truck I noticed a beat up dresser that my dad was going to tear apart and use the wood for a fire, it caught my eye. Walking into the house and frantically told my dad that he couldn't tear it apart because I was going to use it. He looked at me with the look of "it's a piece of junk Danae, what could you possibly make out of it". Well after filling in holes, sanding it down, and cleaning it, that piece of junk became a focal point of my bedroom. After it was all said and done, my dad was a little disappointed. He was not disappointed because he couldn't use it for wood, but because he loved it so much that he said he could never get rid of it. Never getting rid of it meant that he would have move it with us each time we moved.

Recently I have created a headboard out of an old shutter that I found in the basement of where I work. It fits perfectly above my bed. I love crafting because I can make so many neat things for the price of almost nothing.

Cause and Effect

"Happy Birthday" was shouted from all directions on December 12. It was my birthday and I had finally turned 16. I finally had the freedom to drive myself to school, practice, and to my friends house. No longer would I be strolling up in a 1992 full-size van that seated 8. Instead I'd be rocking out in a white/silver Buick. Along with being able to drive, there comes a sense of adventure that had swarmed over me. Simply driving wasn't as thrilling as I wanted it to be, with the help of my friends, we built a ramp. This ramp we placed directly behind another in efforts to jump it and create a stunt. They continued to tell me "Do it birthday girl, it'll be like the best birthday present you've ever had", so I fell for it. My friends had talked me into jumping a small red car and with my inexperienced hands on the wheel and foot on the pedal, I went for it. Hitting up to 50 mph, I went airborne. That didn't last long though until gravity pushed me down directly on top of that small red car. My back wheels ended up on the hood of the red car and my front wheels were smashed onto the hood. Both cars were dented but the one red car beneath was definitly damaged.

Workouts

My friends mom has recently let me borrow her workout videos that she had used until she bought new ones. I have not yet used them, but am very excited to start. One is called the "Crunchless Ab System" and my memory is not recalling the name of the other. I have always loved working out, but the two videos sound intense! With the combination of those I will be continuing my DDR workout sessions. DDR stands for Dance Dance Revolution for those of you who don't know the shorter name for the sweet game. It's never been about losing weight but toning my body, and I have had physical issues with exercising.
I was diagnosed 2 years ago with a rotated pelvic bone. When to much pressure, usually in a hard workout, I can easily throw my hip-flexor muscles into seizure like convulsions. When this occurs my muscles contract, unabling me to stand straight up and instead looking like a hunchback. I can not walk or move normally until about 3 chiropractor appointments later. It's been rough especially when you want to excerise but always have to be concious about doing it safely.
For all you bloggers out there, any other ideas on ways to exercise various muscles without using a treadmill or running? Input is appreciated :)
